Symposium organized by the University of Zurich in honour of Prof. Dr. Wolfgang Portmann

After multiple postponements due to the pandemic caused by Covid-19, on September 16, 2022, the long-awaited Symposium in honour of Wolfgang Portmann (Professor of labour law at the University of Zurich, Switzerland) was held in Zurich.

The Symposium was chaired by Prof. Bernd Wass (labour law professor from the Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany and coordinator of the European Labour Law Network – ELLN), while several other distinguished labour law professors from various European countries (among whom Prof. José João Abrantes from the Nova School of Law in Lisbon, Portugal; Prof. Raluca Dimitriu from the Bucharest University of Economic Studies, Romania; Prof. Petr Hůrka from the Charles University in Prague, Czech Republic; Prof. Leszek Mitrus from the Jagiellonian University in Krakow, Poland; Prof. Costas Papadimitriou from the University of Athens, Greece and Prof. Gaabriel Tavits from the University of Tartu, Estonia) also participated in the Symposium delivering presentations on interesting trends and developments in their national labour law systems.

Participants in the Zurich Symposium from North Macedonia were Prof. Todor Kalamatiev (president of the Association for Labour and Social Law of North Macedonia) and Prof. Aleksandar Ristovski (vice-president of the Association for Labour and Social Law of North Macedonia)

The Symposium was preceded by a publication of Liber Amicorum for Prof. Wolfgang Portmann on the occasion of his retirement. More information about the Liber Amicorum for Prof. Portmann can be found here.
